Rheumatoid gout is a painful type of arthritis and occurs most often in people who are overweight or eat rich foods, such as meat, gravies, spices, and alcohol. Gout is a form of rheumatic disease caused by uric acid deposits in the joints. It can affect any joint - the fingers, wrist, elbow, knee, ankle, or foot. The most commonly affected joint is the big toe.

Gout is typically a condition of middle age, ten times more common in men than in women, unusual in people under the age of 30, and rarely seen in women before menopause. Approximately 1% of the general population have gout.

A gout attack occurs suddenly and may come and go in intensity over a period of several days. Symptoms include pain, swelling and shiny redness over the affected joints. These are large masses of uric acid crystals, which gets collected in the joints and damage it.They also gets collected in the bone and cartilage, such as in the ears.

The symptoms and signs of an acute gout attack are so clear that a doctor can usually be quite sure.

The treatment of an acute attack of gouty arthritis involves measures and medications that reduce inflammation. Preventing future acute gout attacks is equally as important as treating the acute arthritis. Prevention of acute gout involves maintaining adequate fluid intake, weight reduction, dietary changes, reduction in alcohol consumption, and medications to lower the uric acid level in the blood (reduce hyperuricemia).

Allopurinol is the generic name for a medication that also goes by the brand name Zyloprim. It is prescribed for patients who have primary or secondary gout, and for patients with elevated levels of serum and urinary acidic levels. Check Online Drugs store.
